Late 2009 and early this year i worked at
George Patts Y&R in Melbourne. Whilst there, I helped out with a number of projects, some being for
huge clients. One however, was for a much smaller client. It was a landlord insurance company. The idea of this was to make a bogus invite for a crazy open house party, that was to take place at the owner's property, without their permission. It was of course fake, but I dont blame the people who received the email for their reaction. Of the 40 of who were emailed;
+ 13 bounced (didn't deliver)
+ 3 threatened to sue the insurance company
+ 4 withdrew their insurance policy
+ and 4 called the police
I guess you can call it an effective campaign even if it shot the company in the foot. LOLCANO over flowing with lollipops to the power of max!
